Thank Heaven for Beer Jobs

thank-heaven-for-beerLooking for a way to get your foot in the door?  Maybe you should give beer blogging a try!

Beer blogger Mike from Thank Heaven for Beer recently landed a job at his local brewery, 16 miles from home.

From a recent post:

In a life that is ever increasingly moving towards beer, I just landed a new job. As some of you know, Nate and I (Mike) plan on opening a brewery someday. We would like that someday to be about 5 years from the present. Both of us are homebrewers. But both of us would like to have some professional/commercial experience before we attempt to launch this thing. It’s always nice to be able to have valuable experience prior to jumping into any business for yourself.

Be sure to head over to the comments and congratulate Mike on his new gig!

  • Thanks so much for the mention. You’re right that blogging didn’t hurt me. Neither did being a home brewer and reading some professional brewing books. Either way, blogging forces you to try to do your homework, which in turn build your knowledge on the subject. Thanks again for the mention and the recommendation for our site.

I was hired by Stroh Brewery back in 1969 as a tour guide. Those were the good old days!I was just out of high school and the drinking age had been lowered to 18. I was working my way through college (and trying to avoid the draft, my lottery # was 42 so the 2S deferment was necessary). The Stroh family were wonderful people to work for and for the next 14 years I worked my way up the Stroh corporate ladder. I was V.P. of Marketing & Brand Identity when the demolition crew came in, wired the coolest old brewery and imploded it. It was a sad day in Detroit when the brewery went down. I still think about those huge copper brewing kettles. The Stroh family had them shipped over from Germany and they were magnificent. Since then I have spent time in advertising, trademark licensing and most recently real estate. But……my heart and soul are in beer. Would give anything to get back into the biz. I have some great memories of outrageous promotions we did on college campuses throughout Stroh territory. Still like to kick back, drink a few Stroh and think about what a great industry beer is. If anyone reading this could use a marketing/brand identity, ad guy, give me a call @ 248.499.9871. I’d relocate anywhere to get into it again!!

Honestly it is good to see a local non-pro brewer go professional. I keep saying, some day I will go pro and this keeps my head up for sure. Nice work BeerJobs.com
